Odori Park

Odori Park

Hokkaido

garden

Odori Park, a verdant expanse stretching through the heart of Sapporo, Hokkaido, serves as a pivotal green artery for the city. Originally conceived as a grand thoroughfare, this "large street" (Ōdōri) evolved into a meticulously maintained urban park, strategically dividing Sapporo into its northern and southern sectors. Spanning approximately 1.5 kilometers from Nishi 1 chōme to Nishi 12 chōme, the park encompasses 78,901 square meters, offering a tranquil respite amidst the urban landscape. Beyond its role as a serene public space, Odori Park is renowned as the primary venue for Sapporo's most iconic seasonal celebrations. It hosts the vibrant Sapporo Lilac Festival in spring and transforms into a breathtaking wonderland for the internationally acclaimed Sapporo Snow Festival in winter. Visitors will also find significant local landmarks within its boundaries, including the distinctive Sapporo TV Tower and the historic Sapporo City Archive Museum, making it a cultural and recreational focal point year-round.
